CHELSEA 2-3 MANCHESTER CITY

From Villa Park

Manchester City started the season the way to go on after coming from 1-0 down to win the community shield 3-2.

It was a strong start from the pre-season favourites to retain the league City started well and had the first chance of the game and were the better side for most of the game apart from a 5 minute spell before half time.

Just when we thought we were going into half time at 0-0, Fernando Torres popped up with a goal with 5 minutes of the half left when Ramires provided the ball which fell at Torres feet who controlled the ball with his right foot and lifted above the City keeper and in to the back of the net.

More drama was to happen before half time as just 2 minutes after the goal Chelsea were down 10 men when Branislav Ivanovic was sent off by ref Kevin Friend after a bad challenge on City's Aleksander Kolarov with studs up and referee Kevin Friend went straight for his back pocket Chelsea down to 10 and leading 1-0 at half time.

The second half started again with City on top and after 8 minutes City levelled when Yaya Toure played through Nasri, who took the shot at Chech who parried as far as Yaya Toure who drilled the ball home to make it 1-1.

Once City had levelled they were on top and it would not take long for them to go in front it all came from a Chelsea free-kick punted up the pitch by David Luiz and straight in the hands of the City keeper, he then rolled it out and City passed their way up the pitch and the ball fell to Carlos Tevez who curled a a wonderful goal into the back of the Chelsea net 2-1 City.

City then wrapped up the game with a 3rd goal which came from Samir Nasri in the 65th minute after Carlos Tevez released Kolarov on the overlap he then ripped the ball across the six yard box towards Nasri who only has to tap it past Chech in the Chelsea goal 3-1 City.

Chelsea gave their fans some hope with 10 minutes to go after the Manchester City keeper Costal Pantillmon made a hash of Daniel Sturridge's low shot and Ryan Betrand was there to tap in the chance to get his first Chelsea goal.

City take the first trophy of the season work to be done at Chelsea before next Sunday.

Sacking Chris Hughton - Is it the right decision?

Another season has come to an end. This is the period where you will see managers come and go and players come in and depart clubs. The 2018/19 has now come to and end and Brighton finished in 17th place. I believe that if you had offered that to them most Brighton fans would have accepted a third successive season of Premier League football. Add onto that, The Seagulls also made the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Chris Hughton has paid the price for Brighton's poor form in 2019. This decision however, seems extremely harsh. Here is his overall record in charge of the club. Games: 215 Wins: 88 Draws: 57 Defeats: 70 That works out to a win percentage of around 40% that is not bad for a team that's budget is pennies compared to some in the Premier League. Brighton staying in the top flight is an achievement in its self and something that should not be looked over.  Hughton took over at Brighton back in 2014 when the club was struggling at the bottom of t...

Barclays Premier League Preview: Southampton v Everton

Ronald Koeman will return to the dugout this weekend after missing last week's match at Newcastle after having ankle surgery.  He will be hoping that his Saints side can cut out the errors as they welcome Everton to St Mary's this weekend. Southampton needed a Shane Long header 11 minutes from time to rescue a point against Steve McClaren's men at St James' Park last Sunday and the Southampton boss saw plenty of areas for Improvement. 'I wasn't impressed because I was not happy about the first half. Already in the Vitesse match we had too many mistakes the same in the first half at Newcastle." "All the dangers of Newcastle came from faults. The second half the reaction of the players and the physical state in the last 15 minutes was very good because we had the best chances to win the game" "Starting the season with a draw away against Newcastle isn't a bad result bur normally, if we play our level we win the game.
