JACKETT QUITS MILLERS

Kenny Jackett has left his post as Rotherham manager. Jackett was in charge for just 5 games Jackett offered his resignation on Saturday after the defeat against Leeds United which left the club bottom of the table and with one win in eighteen matches this season that came against Brentford. Jackett replaced former Hibs manager Alan Stubbs who was sacked earlier in the campaign.   A statement on the clubs website read: ‘Following the game against Leeds United at the weekend, Kenny Jackett tendered his resignation and accordingly, his employment with the Club has been terminated with immediate effect. Kenny’s resignation came as a shock and is disappointing. The club will now focus on making appropriate arrangements for the first team. ‘ It is believed the main reason for his departure was that he would not be given the backing needed needed to re-build the squad in the January transfer window. MANCHESTER CITY NAME PELLEGRINI

MANCHESTER CITY have confirmed that Manual Pellegrini will take over as manager from June 24th. Pellegrini replaces Roberto Mancini who was sacked after the club lost 0-1 to Wigan in the FA Cup final. Prior to Mancini's sacking at City, Pellegrini announced that he would leave Malaga at the end of the season. Pellegrini's goal will be to reclaim the Premier League title from local rivals Manchester United next season. This was the statement on City's website: Manchester City Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Manuel Pellegrini as first team manager. Pellegrini, who joins the Club on a three year contract, will take up the role from 24th June. Reacting to his appointment Pellegrini said: “I am delighted to accept this hugely exciting opportunity. FA Cup semi-final reaction

FA CUP SEMI-FINAL: MILLWALL 0-2 WIGAN Wigan have reached the FA Cup final for the first time in their history after beating The Lions 2-0 at Wembley. The game however was overseen by crowd trouble within the Millwall support. Wigan took the lead after 25 minutes when Kone lifted the ball over the Millwall defence and into the feet of Shaun Moloney who tucked the ball past Lions keeper David Forde. The second goal came after Wigan had been on the back-foot, James McCarhty slotted the ball through to Callum McManaman who run around Millwall keeper Forde and slotted the ball into the net to give Wigan a place in the final. A statement on the Millwall website read: Millwall Football Club will do everything possible to assist the Football Association and the Metropolitan Police investigating the disorder that occurred during Saturday's FA Cup Semi-Final against Wigan Athletic at Wembley Stadium.
