Kenny Jackett was delighted with his teams 4-0 romp of high-flying Huddersfield.
Millwall extended their unbeaten run to six games and picked up their first clean sheet of the season after putting four past Huddersfield. Manager Kenny Jackett said that Millwall are on their best run since their return to the Championship.
Millwall were on the back foot for most of this game but punished the Yorkshire outfit for not taking the chances that they made, with the score 0-0 Lee Novak had a great chance to break the deadlock but his overhead kick ended up in lower their of the Cold Blow Lane end at The Den.
Huddersfield continued to create chances but failed to put them away and then on the 28th minute they were punished when Liam Trotter released the ball down the left side to release top scorer Darius Henderson who put the ball across for New Zealand international Chris Wood on load from West Brom who tapped it past an exposed Town Keeper.
Town continued to create chances before half time and had their best chance when former Leeds and Everton man Jermaine Beckford chested down and put the ball in place for Keith Southern to fired over the bar from 12 yards.
Huddersfield started the second period well and had a few chances but again failed to trouble Millwall stopper David Forde. Millwall's second goal came on the break, after Huddersfield's corner was cleared and James Henry ran the entire pitch before passing the ball to his right for Chris Wood to chip over the despairing dive of Town keeper Alex Smithies for his second goal of the game and his fourth of the week.
From that point on Millwall controlled the game Huddersfield lost their shape and conceded a third when Trotters good work was rewarded as he passed it to James Henry who smashed the ball home into the bottom corner leaving Smithies with no chance to bag his 1st goal of the season after hitting the woodwork 7 times for far this season!
It got worse for Town when Darius Henderson got through and rounded Keeper Smithies but his shot just would not curl enough to inside the far post, but justice was done for The Lions when Town were reduced to Ten when Town Defender Jack Hunt saw red for foul and abusive language.
3 minutes later the humiliation was complete for Huddersfield when Liam Trotter put his name on the score sheet to round off a great day for Millwall and their boss Kenny Jackett who was pleased with his teams response after losing a 3-0 lead on Tuesday night against Birmingham.
