POYET NAMED SUNDERLAND HEAD COACH

Sunderland have named former Brighton manager Gus Poyet as the clubs new manager.

Poyet was very successful as a player in the Premier League with Chelsea, he was also praised for the job he done as Assistant manager at Tottenham back in 2008. His only job as a manager was with Brighton where he led them to the League One title in his first season. His second season he led them to a 10th place finish in the Championship before last season leading them to 4th before being sacked in June this year.

MANCHESTER CITY put Wednesday's Champions League disappointment behind them after beating Spurs 1-0 to put the pressure back onto Liverpool in the title race.
