Champions League Round up

It was an interesting match day 3 in the Champions League for our English teams. There were wins for Arsenal and Chelsea. Man City threw away a 2 goal lead to draw 2-2 in Russia and Liverpool were taught how to play football by the World's best. The first game involving English teams was of course Man City's game in Moscow which was played behind close doors. City were two goals up after 63 minutes before CSKA came back and equalised through a controversial penalty. No problems for Chelsea they sit at the top of their group with 7 points after a 6-0 win over Maribor but they have problems up front now. Remy and Costa expected to miss the weekend game at Old Trafford Chelsea fans I want to hear from you on my Champions League Q&A on twitter. Liverpool were beaten 3-0 by Real Madrid at Afield which leaves them 3rd in the group Ronaldo and Benzema with the European Champions's goals. Arsenal came from 1-0 to win 2-1 Gibbs and Podolski scoring for them but it was n...

Crystal Palace appoint Neil Warnock

NEIL Warnock has been named as the new manager of Crystal Palace on a 2 year deal. Palace have been searching for a replacement since Tony Pulis left the club just 48 hours before the new Premier League season started. A string of named were linked with the job including: Malky Mackay, Steve Clarke, Tim Sherwood and Neil Lennon but Palace decided to turn to their former boss Warnock who led the club between 2007-10 before leaving when they found themselves in financial trouble. A statement read: 'Crystal Palace football club are delighted to announce that Neil Warnock has been appointed as the new first team manager.' Palace currently lie second bottom of the table without a point from their first 2 games. Warnock will take control of the game at Newcastle this Saturday. The 65-year old has been given a third chance to manage in the Barclays Premier League after being relegated with Sheffield United and sacked by QPR in January 2012 with the club in 17th place. World Cup 2014: England 1-2 Italy

ENGLAND suffered defeat in their first World Cup game in Manaus. Alex Grace Reports Goals from Italy's Cladiuo Marchisio and Mario Balotelli either side of a Daniel Sturridge strike were enough to give Italy a 2-1 victory over the Three Lions on Saturday Evening. England were undone by defensive venerability's in a display that would please Roy Hodgson. The rue reality is that now England face a scrap to survive when they play Uruguay on Thursday after they were beaten 3-1 by Costa Rica. Whoever loses that one is doomed to elimination at the first hurdle. Towards the end it was visible that Roy's men were tiring in the heat in the Amazon, but he will hope that not too much energy is lost as England face a another tough encounter in Sao Paulo. To add insult to injury Physio Gary Lewin was taken off via a stretcher after he broke his ankle when celebrating Daniel Sturridge's goal. Raheem Stirling put in a brilliant display as England looked dangerous and we...

PEPE MEL LEAVES WEST BROM

PEPE Mel has left West Brom this afternoon after 5 months in charge. Mel leaves West Brom Mel won just 3 of his 17 games in charge of the club. West Brom managed a 17th place finish in the table 3 points above Norwich who took the final relegation place. A statement on the clubs website read: “We would like to thank Pepe for his efforts over the past four months in helping to keep the Club in the Premier League and wish him well for the future. “Both Pepe and the Club set out with the best intentions of making the appointment work. However, having reflected on events both on and off the field during our talks today, it became apparent that it was in the best interests of both parties for there to be an amicable parting.  “We are grateful for the manner in which the existing coaching staff and players have rallied behind Pepe to get the Club over the line in what has proved an extremely competitive division.” “Although we have managed to achieve a fifth suc...

MANCHESTER CITY 2013-14 PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

MY OPINION-MOYES SACKING FROM UNITED

BY now we will all be aware that David Moyes has been sacked as manager of Manchester United. Well if u didn't you do now! United pulled the plug on Scot's 11 month tenure after he took over from the legendary Sir Alex Fegurson. Below is Moyes' record as the United boss: Games in Charge: 51 Matches Won: 27 Matches Drawn: 9 Matches Lost: 15 Win %: 52.94 After the breakout on Monday I was not surprised to see the confirmation on Tuesday morning, I was sad to see him loose his job as i feel that he deserved at least another year in  the job to build his own team. Yes he made a lot of mistakes the first being the decision to let all the back room staff when Fergie advised him to keep some of them on to aid with the transition. He is responsible for the mistakes that happened on the field. However, a lot of things that have happened on the field have been individual errors just look at David De Gea's fumble in the Capital One Cup semi -final agains...

MANCHESTER UTD 0-3 LIVERPOOL

MANCHESTER UNITED were beaten at ease by Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. Alex Grace reports from Old Trafford  The win moves Liverpool up to 2nd in the table and 4 points behind Chelsea having played a game less. David Moyes made 1 change to the side that beat West Brom 3-0 last weekend. Vidic came in for Chris Smalling who was missing through a hamstring injury. Liverpool had the first chance of the game when Jordan Henderson put the ball through for Daniel Sturridge who slide the ball wide. Liverpool went close again when Glen Johnson decided to let fly from outside the area but David de Gea saved. United's forst chance of the day came when Robin Van Perise found space on the right of penalty area but his shot was blocked. SAS then worked together to set up Sturridge who put his shot wide. Joe Allen then had the next chance for Liverpool but his shot from inside the area was saved comfortably by De Gea. Then the first major talking point of th...
