FT REPORT: BOURNEMOUTH 2-1 ARSENAL

ARSENAL had another Sunday afternoon to forget this time at the Vitality Stadium where Bournemouth came from behind to beat the Gunners.

The Gunners took the lead through Hector Bellerin to scored for the second successive game but goals from Callum Wilson and Jordan Ibe turned the tie around for the home side who beat Arsenal for the first ever time in league competition.

The headline team news on the Arsenal side of things was that Alexis Sanchez had been omitted from the match day squad and after the game Arsene Wenger admitted that his future will be sorted imminently with Manchester United now reportedly 'confident' of landing the Chilean.

Arsene Wenger who himself was forced to watch from the stands as he served the third of his three match touchline ban was also without Mesut Ozil due to injury, saw Bournemouth start the better and they went the closest in the opening exchanges when former Tottenham right back Adam Smith shot wide of Petr Cech's post.

The first half hour was rather scrappy but during that period Arsenal created their first chance Ashely Maitland-Niles did well inside the box twisting and turning before getting his shot off and seeing it clip the bar as it went over, he will feel like he should have got the shot off quicker. Jack Wilshere, who was looking good against Chelsea before he went off was again pulling the strings in midfield.

Arsenal got their best chance of the first half through Danny Welbeck but the on-rushing Asmir Begovic prevent him from getting to the ball. Bournemouth then appealed for a penalty and in my view a penalty that aloud have been given as Alex Iwobi raised his elbow to clear the ball away. Just minutes later Calum Chambers slid in to prevent Ryan Fraser putting the hosts 1-0 up going into the break.

HT: Bournemouth 0-0 Arsenal

The second half started in the same manner as the first  with the hosts the more adventures of the two sides. However, it was Arsenal who took the lead seven minutes into the half when Alex Iwobi sent a perfectly weighted pass to Hector Bellerin who broke past Charlie Daniels and his scuffed shot beat Asmir Begovic who really should have kept it out.

Eddie Howe responded by sending on Lys Moussett which meant that the lively Ryan Fraser would move to right wing back but this didn't look like the momentum change that we expected until Callum Wilson struck when he beat both Chambers and Cech to an inviting ball by Fraser.

From that moment on Arsenal were shellshocked and didn't respond and they went to sleep defensively again four minutes later when man of the match Wilson was allowed time and space in the box to lay the ball off for Ibe to smash low into net and give Bournemouth the lead.

Arsenal never recovered from losing the lead and never looked like scoring again Walcott and Ramsey came off the bench but the only thing both of them did well was get flagged offside and the bleak away form of Arsenal continued.

FT: Bournemouth 2-1 Arsenal

EVERTON SACK SAM ALLARDYCE

EVERTON have sacked Sam Allardyce, with Marco Silva set to replace him at Goodison Park.  Allardyce leaves Goodison after just 7 months in charge. Everton finished the season in 8th position in the Premier League table with 49 points, 12 fewer than they achieved last season. Allardyce met with the club's majority shareholder Farhead Moshiri this morning (Wednesday) where he was told that his services were no longer required. This is believed to be have been a decision that come from an Everton board meeting on Tuesday afternoon. It is believed that Allardyce will receive the vast majority of of the final 12 months of his contract which Sky Sports estimate is around £6m. A statement on the clubs website read: "On behalf of the chairman, board of directors and Mr Moshiri, I'd like to thank Sam for the job he has done at Everton over the last seven months. Sam was brought in at a challenging time last season to provide us with stability and we are grateful to h...

Sacking Chris Hughton - Is it the right decision?

Another season has come to an end. This is the period where you will see managers come and go and players come in and depart clubs. The 2018/19 has now come to and end and Brighton finished in 17th place. I believe that if you had offered that to them most Brighton fans would have accepted a third successive season of Premier League football. Add onto that, The Seagulls also made the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Chris Hughton has paid the price for Brighton's poor form in 2019. This decision however, seems extremely harsh. Here is his overall record in charge of the club. Games: 215 Wins: 88 Draws: 57 Defeats: 70 That works out to a win percentage of around 40% that is not bad for a team that's budget is pennies compared to some in the Premier League. Brighton staying in the top flight is an achievement in its self and something that should not be looked over.  Hughton took over at Brighton back in 2014 when the club was struggling at the bottom of t...

Barclays Premier League Preview: Southampton v Everton

Ronald Koeman will return to the dugout this weekend after missing last week's match at Newcastle after having ankle surgery.  He will be hoping that his Saints side can cut out the errors as they welcome Everton to St Mary's this weekend. Southampton needed a Shane Long header 11 minutes from time to rescue a point against Steve McClaren's men at St James' Park last Sunday and the Southampton boss saw plenty of areas for Improvement. 'I wasn't impressed because I was not happy about the first half. Already in the Vitesse match we had too many mistakes the same in the first half at Newcastle." "All the dangers of Newcastle came from faults. The second half the reaction of the players and the physical state in the last 15 minutes was very good because we had the best chances to win the game" "Starting the season with a draw away against Newcastle isn't a bad result bur normally, if we play our level we win the game. " Sou...
