Welcome back to AG'S Football Reports for the 2016/17 season. This season is going to be our biggest and best season yet. We will have match reports as well as news from all of the leagues from he top tier through to the 4th tier. We will have round - ups from around the world including Spain, France and Germany. MANCHESTER UNITED have sacked Louis Van Gaal.  This is the confirmation that we have been waiting for since the news first broke on Saturday evening after United and Van Gaal had won a record 12th F.A Cup. Van Gaal was appointed as David Moyes's successor in June 2014 and led United to a 4th placed finish in the Premier League last season. It looks to be the last job that Van Gaal will have in football before he retires, he had planned to retire at the end of next season at the end of his contract. A statement on the Man United website read: Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward said: "I would like to thank Louis and his staff for their excellent work in the past two years culminating in winning a record-equalling 12th FA Cup for the club (and securing him a title in four different countries). MANCHESTER UNITED won their first major trophy since Sir Alex Fegurson's retirement.  Jesse Lingard scored an extra-time winner in what looks set to be Louis Van Gaal's final game in charge of the club. In a repeat of the 1990 final it was Crystal Palace who took the lead 12 minutes from time through substitute Jason Puncheon before Juan Mata levelled three minutes later to force extra-time at Wembley for the second time in three finals. Chris Smalling's second yellow card making him only the 4th player to be sent off in an FA Cup Final  at the end of the first added period looked to have swung the game in Palace's favour but Lingard came up with a spectacular volley to secure United's first FA Cup since 2004 where they beat Millwall 3-0. The team of the season once again pulled of a performance of the highest quality to condemn champions Chelsea to their NINTH defeat in the league this season.  Goals either side of Half- Time from Jamie Vardy and Mahrez sealed the win that means if they win on Saturday they are sure to be top of the table on Christmas Day. The result leaves Jose Mourinho's Chelsea 16th and just one point clear of the relegation places.  It was a game that started off very tight with both sides knowing how important the game was in their retrospective league positions.
