SUNDERLAND HAVE SACKED MANAGER MARTIN O'NEILL AFTER JUST OVER 1 YEAR IN CHARGE

A statement of the club's website read:


The club has parted company with manager Martin O'Neill.
Sunderland AFC has announced that it has parted company with manager Martin O’Neill this evening.
The club would like to place on record its thanks to Martin and wishes him well for the future.
An announcement will be made in the coming days regarding a successor.
Sacked O'Neill
Sunderland find themselves just 1 point above the bottom 3 after losing 1-0 at home to Manchester United and without a win in eight games. Sunderland have just seven games left. O'Neill becomes the 4th Premier League manager to leave.
