Championship Week 4 Preview

Nottingham Forest are the only team left with a 100% record so far in the Championship and they are going to want to continue that into this weekend. We are going to cover this and preview each of the matches in the Championship this weekend.

Bolton have not had the start that most would have expected they play QPR in this weekends early kick off on Sky Sports at 12:15 Bolton go into the game in 19th place with 2 points from their first 2 games. Harry's QPR are 5th in the table with 7 points from 9 both wins coming at Lofts Road either side of a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield at the John Smith's Stadium.

My Prediction: I feel Bolton will want to get this first win and n front of their fans so im backing bolton 2-1

BOLTON V QPR 12PM SKY SPORTS 1
Tough Start for Dougie's men

There was reports last week going around that the Blackburn owners 'Venkeys' were on their way to Blackburn as they were not happy with the start to the season that Blackburn have made. Well with this record P: 3 W: 0 D: 1 L: 2 you may be able to understand but surely its to early to say that Gary Bowyer is fearing his job. They take on another without a win this weekend in Barnsley who were so close to one last week over Charlton.

My Prediction: 2-0 to Blackburn I think they will have enough power to overcome Barnsley and being at home they will want to put the record straight after back-to-back losses to Forest and Doncaster.

Tough job for your first time in management
Blackburn v Barnsley 3pm

Paul Ince had led Blackpool to a good start in Championship this season, they come into this match sitting 3rd in the table with 2 wins and a draw to their name. Their opponents this week are relegated Reading, also under new management of Nigel Adkins so far they have 1 win and 2 draws to their name

Sky Bet Odds: Blackpool 15/8  Draw 12/5  Reading 11/8 (fav)

My Prediction: 1-1 I am sitting on the fence I can't decide on this one I think its going to be a very even game with 2 teams that have made good starts to the season.
Good start for Ince and Blackpool

Blackpool v Reading 3pm

These 2 teams have had the start that we expected but the other way around most of us would of thought that Brighton would be in Burnley's position after they lost top scorer Charlie Austin. Brighton won their first game under new manager Oscar Garcia last week with a 0-1 win at Birmingham. The seagulls come into this game with 1 and 2 defeats from their 3 games. Burnley are in 4th with 2 wins and a draw.

My Prediction: 0-1 I think that Burnley are going to continue their good start to the season at the AMEX.

Disappointing start from Garcia and Brighton
Brighton v Burnley 3pm

Our next match takes us to The Valley were Charlton one of the six teams still without a win this season host Doncaster who have won 1 Drawn 1 and lost 1 from their first 3, its been a good start from the new boys Donny but Charlton will be disappointed with the way that they have been unable to continue with the form from the back end of last season which saw them finish 9th.

My Prediction: Draw. Donny have scored in every game so far hitting a total 5 to Charlton's 3 I don't think either side is better than the other so i am  going for 1-1 draw.

Hoping that the form from April and May can return
Charlton v Doncaster 3pm

From South London to Yorkshire where Huddersfield fresh from a win at Millwall take on Eddie Howe's Bournemouth who have made a decent start to life in the Championship with 2 wins already under their belt over Charlton and Wigan. Huddersfield have made a good start after defeat to Forest on the opening day a good performance against QPR earning them a point and then a win at The Den has given Mark Robins a decent start

My Prediction: 2-0 I think playing away from home is going to the problem for South Coasters this season winning at home will keep them in the league. The Yorkshire outfit will be on a high after last weeks win and I think that will carry them through to this week.

Playing away could be a problem for Bournemouth
From Yorkshire to Suffok were Ipswich host Leeds it has been a mixed start for the Tractor boys 2 league defeats and out of the Cup there only win so far is a 3-0 win over Millwall. Leeds are still unbeaten in the league with 1 win and 2 draws both teams will be looking to get there seasons up and running.

My Prediction: 1-0 Ipswich have been good at home at the back end of last season and start of this one Leeds have not won on the road yet this season.

McCarthy's side have endured a mix start
Ipswich v Leeds 3pm

Our Next stop is to Leicester where they host Birmingham, the Foxes have made a decent start to the season with 2 wins and 1 draw. Birmingham come into the game in 17th place with 1 win and 2 defeats to their name. Birmingham found it hard to win at home last season and did better away.

My Prediction: 2-0, I think Leicester will have too much power within them to beat a Birmingham side thats only win so far has come away to Yeovil. Even though Birmingham did well on their travels last season I don't think they have what it takes to beat Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

Better away than home for Lee Clark
Leicester v Birmingham 3pm

Next  we head back to Yorkshire where 2 teams without a win meet Sheffield Wednesday have got 1 point on the board so far this season a narrow defeat to QPR on day 1 was followed by a shock cup exit at the hands of Rotherham, then losing to Burnley and getting a point off Leeds last week. Their opponents are the only team in the Championship without a single point or goal Steve Lomas has had a difficult start to his tenure as Millwall manager. The Lions have lost all 3 of their league games so far 0-1 home defeat to Yeovil was followed by a 3-0 defeat at Ipswich and 0-1 defeat to Huddersfield.

My Prediction: 0-1, two teams who have found goals hard to come by and both having problems playing at Home. Millwall have been unlucky in most games so far this season and  i'm backing Steve Lomas to get his first league win of the season.

Hard start for Lomas at Millwall
Sheff Wed v Millwall 3pm

Our last trip of the day is to Somerset where Yeovil host Derby, The Glovers have a win to their name after a 0-1 at Millwall on the opening day but have been unable to get anything else since then. Derby have had one of each to start their season with a draw a win and a defeat last week to Leicester.

My Prediction: 0-2 I think that the losing run is going to stretch to 3 games for Yeovil Derby have enough to beat Yeovil.

Hard work now for Yeovil
Yeovil v Derby 3pm

FT REPORT: MANCHESTER CITY 1-0 TOTTENHAM

MANCHESTER CITY put Wednesday's Champions League disappointment behind them after beating Spurs 1-0 to put the pressure back onto Liverpool in the title race.  (C) Manchester City  City came flying out of the blocks right away. It didn't take long to get in front. Bernando Silva's cross found Sergio Aguero, who had too much space in the box and headed across goal for Phil Foden who headed in from close range after just five minutes.  That was Foden's first Premier League goal on his second ever Premier League start. City continued to create chances but failed to take them. Aguero thought he was in after being played through by Bernando Silva but he was flagged offside.  Paulo Ganzaniga came into the starting lineup as one of five Tottenham changes. He however, was looking fragile. He made a number of errors that only gave City confidence. Trying to chip the ball over a player five yards out was one of a number of things the keeper attempted that c...
