Is it time up for Pardew

Is this weekend the very last chance for Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace?

Pardew has been in charge at Palace since 3 January 2015

Pardew’s men are on a run of six consecutive defeats in the Premier League. Palace have won just five Premier League games throughout the whole of 2016 and sit 17th in the table. The only good part of 2016 for Palace was their run to the FA Cup Final in May which they went on to lose 2-1 to Manchester United at Wembley.

The facts are not good for Palace just 22 points from 31 games throughout 2016 is extremely poor, after such a good 2015 where Palace were occupying a place in the Premier League’s top six, the wheels have well and truly come off for Pardew’s men.

A run like this is not uncommon in an Alan Pardew team, remember that awful run with Newcastle just before he took over at Palace. However, before he left for Selhurst Park he had found a way out of the run and led the side up the table, Palace fans are hoping that he can rescue them before they end up in the bottom three.

Palace do still have a tough run of fixtures leading into the festive period and into the new year, starting with Southampton on Saturday at Selhurst Park, followed by a six pointer at Hull on the 10th December. Followed by three tough fixtures, United and Chelsea at Selhurst Park, followed by Watford away on Boxing day and then a trip to the Emirates on New Years Day.

Following that run there is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel for Palace, with some fixtures against the sides around them including Swansea (H), West Ham(A), Everton(H) and Bournemouth(A).

So if the Palace board remain patient and the fans are willing to back Pardew then maybe he can lead the side out of the trouble that they are in.

However, should Palace lose this weekend and decide to end Pardew’s time as gaffer then the first question is who would be the man to replace him. There is a strong case for a lot of managers and a fair few bosses would want to give it a go. The Favourite for the post is Wales manager Chris Coleman who has had a wonderful 2016 getting Wales to the Semi-Finals of Euro 2016.

The man behind him is former England Manager Sam Allardyce who is an expert in keeping teams in the Premier League, would Palace take a gamble and appoint the former England boss, if I was Steve Parish I know what I would do.

  1. Everton will meet Arsenal in today's game played at Goodison Park Stadium. In their last meeting, Arsenal won the match with 0-2. I wonder if Wenger's team prepared us with a surprise for today. Based on the past results of the two teams, I would expect for Arsenal to perform well during this meeting and win this game. It should be interesting to see if Alexis Sánchez will score during this match as he has a good average in terms of goals scored / match. Sacking Chris Hughton - Is it the right decision?

Another season has come to an end. This is the period where you will see managers come and go and players come in and depart clubs. The 2018/19 has now come to and end and Brighton finished in 17th place. I believe that if you had offered that to them most Brighton fans would have accepted a third successive season of Premier League football. Add onto that, The Seagulls also made the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Chris Hughton has paid the price for Brighton's poor form in 2019. This decision however, seems extremely harsh. Here is his overall record in charge of the club. Games: 215 Wins: 88 Draws: 57 Defeats: 70 That works out to a win percentage of around 40% that is not bad for a team that's budget is pennies compared to some in the Premier League. Brighton staying in the top flight is an achievement in its self and something that should not be looked over.  Hughton took over at Brighton back in 2014 when the club was struggling at the bottom of t...

Everton finished the season in 8th position in the Premier League table with 49 points, 12 fewer than they achieved last season. Allardyce met with the club's majority shareholder Farhead Moshiri this morning (Wednesday) where he was told that his services were no longer required. This is believed to be have been a decision that come from an Everton board meeting on Tuesday afternoon. It is believed that Allardyce will receive the vast majority of of the final 12 months of his contract which Sky Sports estimate is around £6m. A statement on the clubs website read: "On behalf of the chairman, board of directors and Mr Moshiri, I'd like to thank Sam for the job he has done at Everton over the last seven months. Sam was brought in at a challenging time last season to provide us with stability and we are grateful to h...

Barclays Premier League Preview: Southampton v Everton

Ronald Koeman will return to the dugout this weekend after missing last week's match at Newcastle after having ankle surgery.  He will be hoping that his Saints side can cut out the errors as they welcome Everton to St Mary's this weekend. Southampton needed a Shane Long header 11 minutes from time to rescue a point against Steve McClaren's men at St James' Park last Sunday and the Southampton boss saw plenty of areas for Improvement. 'I wasn't impressed because I was not happy about the first half. Already in the Vitesse match we had too many mistakes the same in the first half at Newcastle." "All the dangers of Newcastle came from faults. The second half the reaction of the players and the physical state in the last 15 minutes was very good because we had the best chances to win the game" "Starting the season with a draw away against Newcastle isn't a bad result bur normally, if we play our level we win the game. " Sou...
