Tuesday Night Round Up

After a a busy Transfer Deadline day, there was seven matches in the Premier League as well last night, clubs were doing deals during these games to make sure they have got what it takes to reach their goals for the rest of the season. Here is a round up of last nights action.

Arsenal 1-2 Watford

Troy Deeney celebrates scoring Watford's 2nd
This surely was the week that Arsenal had to crank up the pressure on their London rivals by beating Watford and then winning at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, safe to say its got off to a bad start. The Gunners were 2-0 down inside 13 minutes at the Emirates Stadium in truth had it not been for Petr Cech the game could well have been over before Half-Time. Cech made come wonderful saves to deny Watford a 3 goal lead at the break. Arsenal recovered in the second half and Alex Iwobi  reduced the deficit to 1 after 58 minutes but they couldn't find an equaliser, Arsenal drop to 3rd while Watford move up to 13th.

Bournemouth 0-2 Crystal Palace

Scott Dann scores Palaces first goal at Bournemouth
FINALLY A WIN FOR BIG SAM! Palace collected their first win of 2017 and first under new Manager Sam Allardyce with a typical big Sam showing at Bournemouth. Scott Dan who now has 4 goals against Bournemouth in the Premier League set them on their way at the start of the second half before Benteke added a second in stoppage time to secure a first win for Allardyce at the sixth attempt. However, despite that win Palace who singed Sakho on loan from Liverpool yesterday remain in the relegation places on 19 points. Bournemouth slip to 14th 9 points clear of the relegation places.

Burnley 1-0 Leicester

Sam Vokes scores the winner
The Champions are yet to score in 2017 and are now right in the thick of a relegation battle after defeat at Turf Moore. Leicester are winless away from home in the League this season after winning 11 en route to the title last term. This was a controversial one as it looked the ball was controlled by Sam Vokes' hand before scored the goal. Leicester complained but the goal was given. Burnley who secured two singings on TDD including a club record fee for Robbie Brady from Norwich have taken
28 of their 29 points at Home and are 9th in the table, Leicester are 16th 2 points above the drop.

Boro 1-1 West Brom

Negredo levels from the spot
A game between 2 solid sides. Boro have a good defensive record but just can't score goals they have the worst goals for record in the PL with just 18 scored. It reminds us a bit of West From last year who couldn't score. West Brom took the lead through a stunning James Morrison free-kick before Boro levelled through Negredo from the spot. Both teams's managers were frustrated with their sides lack of business in the transfer window, all in all a draw is fair for both, Boro are up a place to 15th above Leicester while West From stay 8th.

Sunderland 0-0 Spurs

Tottenham were left frustrated at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland claimed a vital point and moved off the bottom of the Premier League table. A clean sheet something that is very rare in the North East was vital for Sunderland as they missed 2 good chances to win the game. Spurs will be disappointed as if they had won the pressure would be once again on Chelsea ahead of the Arsenal game on Saturday. One good thing for Spurs there back up above Arsenal into 2nd.

Swansea 2-1 Southampton

Swansea made it back to back wins for the first time this season with victory over League Cup finalists Southampton. The Swans who beat Liverpool last time out took the lead through former Barnsley defender Alfie Mawson, before Shane Long levelled for the visitors. However, the Swans would make it back to back wins through Gylfi Sigurdsson 20 minutes from time. Swansea 17th on 21 points, the Saints 12th on 27.

Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea

Chelsea extended their lead at the top of the table to 8 points with a draw at Anfield. This ended Liverpool's run of three straight Anfield defeats but their hopes of the title are hanging by a thread, they move three points clear of Man City in the table and remain 4th. Chelsea of course remain top and are now 8 points clear of their nearest challengers Tottenham with Arsenal to come at the Bridge on Saturday Lunchtime.
