Have Manchester United Progressed?

So Jose Mourinho has nearly completed his first season in charge of Manchester United, but has their been any progress?

Well United may have won both the Community Shield and EFL Cup this season they still sit 5th in the Premier League table, the same place they finished last season. In fact Louis Van Gaal had a better points return (56) than Mourinho (54) after 29 Premier League games.

Performances under Mourinho have been a lot better though, in some ways there have been some classic United performances and the return of last-minute goals something that was never seen under the Dutchman.

United are currently on a 23 match unbeaten run in the Premier League but they have drawn half of those games, if 5 of those drawn games had been wins then they would be up with Chelsea and Spurs at the top of the table. So overall if you look at the wider picture you can see that they have progressed in many different ways.

You can't ignore the fact that they do have a trophy in the cabinet this year, The EFL Cup which they won by besting Southampton in the final back in February. They are also in the quarter finals of the Europa League and reached the Quarter finals on the F.A Cup.

Overall there is still the possibility of winning the Europa League which would enable them to play in Champions League next season and after Sunday's win over Chelsea in the Premier League the top four can not be ruled out yet, while it may not look like there has been any progress at Old Trafford this season there has!

Sacking Chris Hughton - Is it the right decision?

Another season has come to an end. This is the period where you will see managers come and go and players come in and depart clubs. The 2018/19 has now come to and end and Brighton finished in 17th place. I believe that if you had offered that to them most Brighton fans would have accepted a third successive season of Premier League football. Add onto that, The Seagulls also made the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Chris Hughton has paid the price for Brighton's poor form in 2019. This decision however, seems extremely harsh. Here is his overall record in charge of the club. Games: 215 Wins: 88 Draws: 57 Defeats: 70 That works out to a win percentage of around 40% that is not bad for a team that's budget is pennies compared to some in the Premier League. Brighton staying in the top flight is an achievement in its self and something that should not be looked over.  Hughton took over at Brighton back in 2014 when the club was struggling at the bottom of t...

Sam was brought in at a challenging time last season to provide us with stability and we are grateful to h...

Barclays Premier League Preview: Southampton v Everton

Ronald Koeman will return to the dugout this weekend after missing last week's match at Newcastle after having ankle surgery.  He will be hoping that his Saints side can cut out the errors as they welcome Everton to St Mary's this weekend. Southampton needed a Shane Long header 11 minutes from time to rescue a point against Steve McClaren's men at St James' Park last Sunday and the Southampton boss saw plenty of areas for Improvement. 'I wasn't impressed because I was not happy about the first half. Already in the Vitesse match we had too many mistakes the same in the first half at Newcastle." "All the dangers of Newcastle came from faults. The second half the reaction of the players and the physical state in the last 15 minutes was very good because we had the best chances to win the game" "Starting the season with a draw away against Newcastle isn't a bad result bur normally, if we play our level we win the game. " Sou...
