NORWICH scored a last minute equaliser to extend their nine year unbeaten run against their Suffolk rivals Ipswich.
The game looked to be heading towards a 0-0 draw until the 88th minute when Luke Chambers thought he had won it for Ipswich when he headed home from a corner, but with just seven seconds left of stoppage time Timm Klose headed home a dramatic equaliser to deny Ipswich their first East Anglian derby win since 2009.
Ipswich controlled the first half of with a very disciplined and professional performance. However, after the break Norwich responded and produced a good second half display.
The result did little to help either side in their aims of reaching play-offs. Both sides are locked on 45 points, eight off Bristol City who occupy the final play-off place.
Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy decided to match Norwich and play with three at the back and it looked to have worked very well the for the visitors as home keeper Angus Gunn was the busier of the two keepers, getting down to parry Martyn Waghorn's shot away moments after Jonas Knudsen had headed wide.
Before the break he would be called into action twice more saving from Callum Connelly's strike before having to be at his best again to deny Martyn Waghorn who was looking very lively in the first half.
The first half also saw the visitors have two penalty claims, the first involving Martyn Waghorn but it was clear that Timm Klose was just too strong for him to deal with, the second one involved Dominic Iorfa but there was minimal contact and both were turned down by referee Peter Coote.
Ipswich couldn't keep up their good first half performance in the second as Norwich took control and that was because James Maddison was now beginning to find space that he never had in the first half.
The tables well and truly turned in the second half and Bartosz Bialkowski was the busier of the goalkeepers and was forced into action for the first time when he had to save from a dangerous James Maddison free kick.
The best chance of the game then arrived and Timm Klose should have given the hosts the lead as he was unmarked and onside but he failed to make contact with the ball from Harrison Reed's cross.
That chance then saw Norwich move up the gears and take from control as Bialkowski again had to tip a Maddison free kick over the bar before having to get down low to divert Nelson Oliveria's shot past the post.
However with 88 minutes on the clock Ipswich got themselves a corner and captain Luke Chambers broke free from his marker to head home and give the visitors the lead and the fans dreaming of their first win over Norwich in nine years.
However, those fans would have the hearts broken as a long ball forward was kept in by Grant Hanley and he crossed and found Timm Klose who headed home to give Norwich a share of the spoils and keep their faint play-off hopes alive.
Teams:
Norwich: Gunn (7), Reed (7), Zimmermann (6), Hanley (7), Klose (8), Lewis (8), Tettey (7), Leitener (7), Maddison (8), Murphy (7), Oliveria (7)
Ipswich: Bialkowski (8), Iorfa (6), Carter-Vickers (7), Chambers (8), Webstete (7), Knudsen (7), Skuse (6), Connolly (7), Gleeson (6), Waghorn (7), Garner (7)
