PREMIER LEAGUE ROUND UP

ANOTHER weekend has come and gone on the Premier League as we are now approaching the tail end of what has been another wonderful campaign.

The first game of the weekend was Saturday's early kick off at Turf Moor between Burnley and Manchester City. All of the pre-match talk was about Pep Guardiola's decision to only name six substitutes with Gary Neville blasting it a 'joke' decision.

It appeared business as usual for Man City after 22 minutes when left back Danilo curled a beautiful effort into Sthe top corner to give City the lead. In the second half Raheem Sterling was guilty of surely the miss of the season when he somehow failed to turn the ball into the net from 3 yards out.

That miss would came back to hurt Sterling and City because 8 minutes from time Burnley equalised through Gudmundsson who got on the end of Matthew Lowton's cross to give Burnley an unlikely point.

City's lead at the top has been cut to 13 points after that draw because Manchester United got revenge on Huddersfield for their defeat in Yorkshire in September by beating the Terriers 2-0 at Old Trafford a result that saw Huddersfield drop into the relegation places for the first time this season.

Goals from Romalu Lukaku and a first Manchester United goal for Alexis Sanchez sealed the win for Jose Mourinho's men who as I said cut the gap at the top to 13 points with 12 games left.

Arsenal cut the gap to the top four to five points although Chelsea play at Watford tonight on the Monday Night Football. This game was over in 19 minutes. The star of the show without doubt was Aaron Ramsey who bagged his first Arsenal hat-rick there was also a debut goal for Aubameyang but replays show he was offside. Laurent Koscielny also got on the score sheet.

Swansea moved out of the relegation places with a 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium against Leicester who are now winless in three games. Jamie Vardy gave the hosts the lead. Wilfried Nidi thought he had doubled the lead but his goal was ruled out for offside. Fernandez levelled for Swansea in the second half with a free header in the box.

Bournemouth are up to 9th after coming from behind to beat Stoke at Dean Court. Stoke to the lead through Xherden Shaquri's header but that is as good as it got for Paul Lambert as Bournemouth battled back with goals from Josh King and first Premier League goal for Lys Mousset sealed a 2-1 win for the Cherries after that 3-0 success at Chelsea in midweek.

Brighton are three points clear of the relegation places after completing a league double over West Ham at the AMEX. Glenn Murray gave the hosts the lead before Javier Hernandez scored a brilliant solo goal to bring the Hammers level. However, just as he did at The London Stadium Jose Izquierdo hit a brilliant strike before Pascal Gross sealed victory for Brighton to move them up to 13th level on points and goal difference with West Ham.

West Brom are now four points adrift at the bottom of the able after losing 3-2 at home to Southampton it was a first win in 12 for the Saints who moved out of the bottom three. It was an emotional day at the Hawthorns as they honoured the late Cyril Regis before the game. It started well enough for West Brom with Hegazy heading home from a corner.

Two goals in three minutes from the Saints turned the game first Lemina with his first goal for the club and what a goal it was from the edge of the box before Jack Stephens headed in from a corner to make to 2-1 at the break. James Ward-Prowse made it 3-1 with a beautiful free-kick from the edge of the box and that looked to have ended the game but Rondon popped up from a Chris Brunt free-kick to head home and give the Baggies hope but in the end it would be defeat for Alan Pardew's side who are now 4 points adrift at the bottom.

Here is the table:

EVERTON SACK SAM ALLARDYCE

EVERTON have sacked Sam Allardyce, with Marco Silva set to replace him at Goodison Park.  Allardyce leaves Goodison after just 7 months in charge. Everton finished the season in 8th position in the Premier League table with 49 points, 12 fewer than they achieved last season. Allardyce met with the club's majority shareholder Farhead Moshiri this morning (Wednesday) where he was told that his services were no longer required. This is believed to be have been a decision that come from an Everton board meeting on Tuesday afternoon. It is believed that Allardyce will receive the vast majority of of the final 12 months of his contract which Sky Sports estimate is around £6m. A statement on the clubs website read: "On behalf of the chairman, board of directors and Mr Moshiri, I'd like to thank Sam for the job he has done at Everton over the last seven months. Sam was brought in at a challenging time last season to provide us with stability and we are grateful to h...

Sacking Chris Hughton - Is it the right decision?

Another season has come to an end. This is the period where you will see managers come and go and players come in and depart clubs. The 2018/19 has now come to and end and Brighton finished in 17th place. I believe that if you had offered that to them most Brighton fans would have accepted a third successive season of Premier League football. Add onto that, The Seagulls also made the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Chris Hughton has paid the price for Brighton's poor form in 2019. This decision however, seems extremely harsh. Here is his overall record in charge of the club. Games: 215 Wins: 88 Draws: 57 Defeats: 70 That works out to a win percentage of around 40% that is not bad for a team that's budget is pennies compared to some in the Premier League. Brighton staying in the top flight is an achievement in its self and something that should not be looked over.  Hughton took over at Brighton back in 2014 when the club was struggling at the bottom of t...

Barclays Premier League Preview: Southampton v Everton

Ronald Koeman will return to the dugout this weekend after missing last week's match at Newcastle after having ankle surgery.  He will be hoping that his Saints side can cut out the errors as they welcome Everton to St Mary's this weekend. Southampton needed a Shane Long header 11 minutes from time to rescue a point against Steve McClaren's men at St James' Park last Sunday and the Southampton boss saw plenty of areas for Improvement. 'I wasn't impressed because I was not happy about the first half. Already in the Vitesse match we had too many mistakes the same in the first half at Newcastle." "All the dangers of Newcastle came from faults. The second half the reaction of the players and the physical state in the last 15 minutes was very good because we had the best chances to win the game" "Starting the season with a draw away against Newcastle isn't a bad result bur normally, if we play our level we win the game. " Sou...
