A FANS VIEW: ASTON VILLA

AS we reach the business end of the season the League tables have dictated which teams are going to be in the running for promotion, the play-offs and relegation.

Over the coming days I am going to be looking at different clubs who are fighting across these three fronts and speaking to fans of those clubs.

In this article I am talking to Aston Villa fan Andy.

What have you made of Villa's season?

I am quite happy with where we are at the moment. I think the season has been okay but not great if we don't go up, if we do then its a great season.

Has the season lived up to your pre-season expectations and what were your expectations?

Being an Aston Villa fan I expected us to be at the top of the division as we are one of the biggest clubs in the division, if not the biggest club.

Who have been Villa's key players this season?

Our goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has been our key player this year. Saving us on so many occasions this season especially in the early part when we were finding it hard to get going.

What have been Villa's key results for you this season?

We have had a few especially during that run where we won seven in a row. If I had to pick two then they would be the 5-0 win over what was at the time a very in form Bristol City side and the 2-0 win over Birmingham that moved us up to second in the table.

Do you think you can win promotion this season?

Yes, I think we can but it must be in the top two because we won't win the play-offs as the likes of Cardiff and Fulham will be to strong for us. I do think we can go up as Champions.

Which sides will make the top six come the end of the season?

I think Wolves and Villa will go up automatically with Fulham in 3rd, Cardiff 4th Boro 5th and Bristol City 6th, with Boro to win the play-offs.

FT REPORT: MANCHESTER CITY 1-0 TOTTENHAM

MANCHESTER CITY put Wednesday's Champions League disappointment behind them after beating Spurs 1-0 to put the pressure back onto Liverpool in the title race.  (C) Manchester City  City came flying out of the blocks right away. It didn't take long to get in front. Bernando Silva's cross found Sergio Aguero, who had too much space in the box and headed across goal for Phil Foden who headed in from close range after just five minutes.  That was Foden's first Premier League goal on his second ever Premier League start. City continued to create chances but failed to take them. Aguero thought he was in after being played through by Bernando Silva but he was flagged offside.  Paulo Ganzaniga came into the starting lineup as one of five Tottenham changes. He however, was looking fragile. He made a number of errors that only gave City confidence. Trying to chip the ball over a player five yards out was one of a number of things the keeper attempted that c...
