FT REPORT: HULL CITY 1-2 MILLWALL

MILLWALL made it five wins on the spin away from home in the Championship after 2-1 win over Hull at the KCOM Stadium.

George Saville scored inside 51 seconds to give the visitors the lead his first goal of 2018. Tom Elliot and Lee Gregory both forced Alan McGregor into saves as the Lions continued their amazing start to the game.

Jarrod Bowen then rattled the crossbar for the hosts as they looked to try and get back into the game. However, just after the half-hour mark Millwall were 2-0 up as Jake Cooper sent a looping header into the corner and over McGregor.

Sub Abel Hernandez puled a goal back for Hull with ten minutes left but Harris's side held on to record their fifth straight win away from home in the league and their 17th point since in the start of February.

The result means that Millwall remain 11th in the table six points off the play-offs and one behind Brentford who come to the Den on Saturday afternoon.

Many fans thought on Saturday that the team needed a freshen up but the Millwall boss only made one change to his side bringing in Tom Elliot for Steve Morison who dropped to the bench. Elliot was making his first league start since the 0-0 draw with Derby County.

He made an impact right from the start as it was him who put the pressure on Hull captain Michael Dawson and his mistake allowed Jed Wallace to pick up the ball and find Lee Gregory in the box who  beautifully back heeled it into the path of the oncoming George Saville who finished low into the net to record his eight goal of the season. An impressive tally for a central midfielder.

Gregory as he has done all season was giving defenders a nightmare with his movement up front and this was also being repeated by Elliot as both of them had shots that the keeper had to save.

Although Hull looked weak at the back they were looking good going forward with Irvine especially looking good when he was given time on the ball. Seb Larsson also possess quality and he produced a wonderful cross filed pass that was headed down before Jarred Bowen struck the crossbar.

Irvine then had a chance but he headed from Larsson's cross and Mahlon Romeo blocked from Grosicki as he shot from inside the box.

It was an end to end game but Millwall would score a second before the break as Jake Cooper sent a looping header into the net from Ben Marshall's corner. It seemed as if the keeper had been fooled by the flight of the ball.

Hull responded well though, and created a good chance for Aina who volleyed just over the bar after Jordan Archer had punched away a corner.

Millwall knew that being 2-0 up at half time meant nothing after Leeds and knew they would have to withstand a 15 minute barrage from the hosts at the start if the second half but that never came.

Millwall then had a goal disallowed for a foul on McGregor in goal before Nohua Dicko was given offside as he was one on one with Archer.

Neil Harris then brought on both Fred Onyedinma and Steve Morison for Ben Marshall and Tom Elliot while Hull brought on Abel Hernandez who had been missing since August he had a chance that he put well wide before Larsson saw a shot deflected over.

Another Hull sub Harry Wilson then had a chance after he got away from Mahlon Romeo only to see his show saved by Archer.

Tim Cahill came on to replace Gregory meaning Millwall now had Steve Morison and Cahill up front which is a combined age of 72. The latter made an instant impact getting booked 50 seconds after coming on.

Hull got back into it with eleven minutes left after Romeo gave away a foul. Wilson played the ball in and it somehow got through to Hernandez who finished past Archer to give the hosts hope but it wasn't to be and Millwall held on for a tenth match unbeaten in the Championship.

FT REPORT: MANCHESTER CITY 1-0 TOTTENHAM

MANCHESTER CITY put Wednesday's Champions League disappointment behind them after beating Spurs 1-0 to put the pressure back onto Liverpool in the title race.  (C) Manchester City  City came flying out of the blocks right away. It didn't take long to get in front. Bernando Silva's cross found Sergio Aguero, who had too much space in the box and headed across goal for Phil Foden who headed in from close range after just five minutes.  That was Foden's first Premier League goal on his second ever Premier League start. City continued to create chances but failed to take them. Aguero thought he was in after being played through by Bernando Silva but he was flagged offside.  Paulo Ganzaniga came into the starting lineup as one of five Tottenham changes. He however, was looking fragile. He made a number of errors that only gave City confidence. Trying to chip the ball over a player five yards out was one of a number of things the keeper attempted that c...
